About Us
History
The Mobile Amateur Radio Awards Club, Inc. was organized in
1970 as a non profit corporation. MARAC is a support
group for county hunting and mobile activities with members
all over the world. MARAC is staffed entirely by volunteers.
MARAC is not affiliated with CQ Magazine. The purpose
of of this site is provide information to membership and prospective
members regarding the business and activities of MARAC.
Basic Information
The first achievement in county hunting is usually to work and confirm all United States counties, which number 3077 at this time, and submit an application to CQ Magazine for their USA-CA Award. There are many awards that MARAC offers that do not require a USA-CA award. Many of the more popular MARAC awards are working all counties a 2nd, 3rd or even a 12th time! Bingo and Master Gold are also very popular awards. You can view all of our awards by clicking here.
Mobile Operations As you would expect, many of our awards are geared with an emphasis on recognizing and encouraging mobile operations. We have awards for working stations from each county in each state. We also have a number of awards for Big Rigs (18 Wheelers) and OM/YL teams. If you happen to work a station and you are in the last county he/she needed you are giving him the Whole Ball of Wax (WBOW). If you work a station for their last in a particular state you will qualify for a Last County (LC) award which can be endorsed. Finally, each year we award a SSB and CW County Hunter of the Year.
